Competition and you
Posted Tuesday, August 15, 2006
I just received this week's copy of BusinessWeek. The entire magazine was about competition and provided several interesting articles. One article shares a poll conducted by BusinessWeek. The first question asked is "Who is most likely to get ahead in your company?" 66% of the people surveyed said a modestly talented but extremely competitive person while 34% stated an extremely talented but non-competitive person would be able to advance their career.
I agree that the competitive person will get ahead, but I also believe other factors are involved. There is not only competitive, but confidence, competence, and attitude.
I have seen competitive people at work and the ones that are promoted carry these other traits. What are you doing to improve your confidence, competence, and attitude?
